Original oil and acrylic on canvas
As I get older the names of my Grand and Great Grand parents get louder but at the same time strangely less clear, I don’t understand them in the way I was certain I did in my twenties, Hendry, Campbell, Frazer, Davies the list is a DNA marker somehow detailed yet vague. Alexander Frazer lies in a graveyard in Inverness not far from the moor that gave its name to the ocean of flatness.
"We followed you, Prince, to this ocean of flatness and bullets.".
The painting conversely is of a little road on the West Coast in Argyl and Bute. So the painting too is a mixture of influences and places, just like us.
