Canvas is pleased to present “Our Land,” a stunning exhibition featuring 15 paintings by acclaimed artist David Page. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes of Northern Ireland and Scotland, Page’s work is deeply rooted in the historical ties of the ancient kingdom of Dalriada. This collection masterfully explores the intricate relationship between land, ownership, and access, highlighting the contrasting legal frameworks that shape these regions.

Working from his studios in Kells, Co Antrim, and the Isle of Mull, Page embarks on a conceptual journey influenced by the literary insights of Irish poets. His paintings are infused with the spirit of Romantic, Modern, and Postmodern poetry, which has long offered profound interpretations of these landscapes. Through these poetic lenses, Page deepens his connection to the land, allowing literature to guide his visual storytelling.

“Our Land” is a testament to Page’s exceptional talent and vision, offering a rich exploration of these landscapes that blends historical context with a deeply personal, poetic perspective. Each painting is thoughtfully paired with reflections on the literary works that inspired it, honoring the poets who have guided Page’s creative journey. Canvas is thrilled to share this remarkable collection, where history, literature, and art beautifully blends.

David started his career in the arts by founding Page \ Park Architects. Page has always viewed architecture as the art of making the built environment, and, for him, drawing and painting were always essential to that process.
The challenge now, as a full time artist, is to combine both image and experience on a flat surface.
He enjoys two bases from which he work: The Origami Studio in the heart of the conservation area of Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Scotland exercising the ‘right to roam’ in Mull’s majestic mountains and scrambling her battered coastline. His second base is the Origami House which is set in the gentle rural landscape beside the glorious Glens of Antrim, Northern Ireland. Both these landscapes, cast in changing light and atmosphere, invigorate and challenge his work as an artist.
