“Everyone suddenly burst out singing;
And I was filled with such delight
As prisoned birds must find in freedom,
Winging wildly across the white
Orchards and dark-green fields; on - on - and out of sight.” - SS.
The bursts of happiness we have, this song the painting title brings into my thoughts a frequent visitor to my childhood home, a musician he made my brother a drum which my son now has. The painting’s title which is a North Irish litmus Test was played in memory of that musical man. I can still hear the feet on the wooden boards keeping time, If you’re inclined, listen to Micho Russell’s version.
