Original oil and acrylic on canvas by Andrew Gault

I have been unable to paint for a time, but this week things changed once again as they always do, and I have found time and space and encouragement in my studio once again.
I have been reading and Owen Sheers, Mametz Wood, has echoed.
“And even now the earth stands sentinel
reaching back into itself for reminders of what happened
like a wound working a foreign body to the surface of the skin.”.
That feeling that the earth has memory which it shares, resonates. The source of the painting, a line of trees so many times the line of a journey along their linear path, in a place never home to me yet emotionally harnessing.
Remind yourself of the landscapes those places you know or knew, and paths you have walked, they will share memories you have long forgotten.
