In Ireland it’s not unusual to describe a place as home yet to no longer live there. It is that land, the place, which we call home, possession or being possessed by land is important here.
It reunites us with the past, our childhood, our parents.
To journey home is full of emotion not least that instant just before we arrive.
….“They grew strong in that rich soil and cleared the way
Where the myths of their grandfathers pushed
Hard in the muddy salient and now lie cold and
alone in that rich dark earth
Yet this is still not our land
no need now for them, those sons
All is lost and given up.”….
