The damselfly is a transformational creature operating between air, land and water, and in mythological terms represents the ability to cross effortlessly between realms. This mixed media painting explores this metaphysical idea by way of a contemporary landscape painting. Textured in parts, there are a myriad of unexpected marks, layered up carefully to draw the viewer in. Created using acrylic washes, water based spray paint, acrylic inks, impasto and cold wax.
