NOTPOP
NOTPOP is Matthew Knight.
Matthew Knight’s work explores the relationship between shape, form, and colour. He paints three-dimensional forms on shaped canvases, allowing the subject’s form to dictate the frame itself. Using a dynamic interplay of bright and moody tones, his paintings achieve both visual impact and emotional resonance. His practice sits at the intersection of Pop Art and Abstract, creating a distinctive body of work that blurs the boundaries between the two.
Working between his studio in Antrim and workshop in Tyrone, Knight develops each frame as a bespoke extension of the canvas. He draws inspiration from the simple shapes and patterns found in everyday life—what begins as a spontaneous doodle often evolves into an intricate piece defined by bold colour choices and meticulous craftsmanship.
Over the past fifteen years, Matthew Knight has exhibited internationally, with shows in Belfast, Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Torino, and Melbourne.
