I took a break a few weeks back, my son had left for college, I was feeling sorry for myself, so I ended up on the West Coast of Scotland at that cottage near Lunga. It rained and afterwards the smell of the woods reminded me of a whisky tasting note I’d read 20 years ago:
“like a shot fired in a pine forest after a shower of rain”.
It’s funny the things the landscape make you remember.
My all time favourite description of a whisky is:
“Come away laddie an’ matron ‘ill show you the ropes”.
