Nicola Gilmore Lunn

Born into an artistic family Nicola has always had a deep appreciation of art and design. She studied at the art college, Belfast and completed a degree in Landscape Design in Manchester. Following a career teaching art and design Nicola is now painting full time. Living in Northern Ireland she is inspired by the natural world, the forests, woodlands and beaches, on her doorstep.
In her work Nicola aims to capture the transiency of nature and the atmosphere of a place by observing the changing qualities of light, weather and the seasons on the landscape. Using oils Nicola captures mood and emotion by layering a variety of brush strokes on canvas from loose and spontaneous to blended and controlled which results in her ambient and atmospheric landscapes. She hopes to create a quiet moment and compel the viewer to linger and connect with her emotive and ethereal landscapes.
