A Slow Day
By Mark Bonello
Mark is an up and coming new talent who originally hales from London but for the last 11 years has lived on the North Antrim coast.
Mark is self taught and works in a loose yet controlled way. His subdued unsaturated hues are laid out in contrast to the bold sporadic marks he carves out in oils giving a sense of tension and of place.
“ I’m drawn to things that tend to go unnoticed or overlooked. Scenes, places and buildings that have a link to a past and is somehow still tangible, but without being overly nostalgic. But often I’m just simply drawn to something. I’ve learnt to just trust my instinct when my interest is sparked and also when I’m trying to convey that initial response and allow it to come through me and onto the canvas. “
